Celebrating Innovation: Ecolution Design is in Contention for Interior Design’s Best of Year Awards!
We are thrilled to announce that Ecolution Design is officially in the running for Interior Design’s prestigious Best of Year Awards, vying for top honors in the newly introduced Made in America category!
In this post, we'll take a look at:
Regarded as one of the architecture and design industry’s most prestigious awards, Best of Year honors creativity, innovation, and impact at the highest level. We are incredibly proud to have our sustainable office pods up for consideration on this global stage, validating our belief that truly good design embodies a symbiotic relationship between people and their environment.
Championing American Manufacturing
To commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, Best of Year is celebrating products that exemplify American manufacturing at its best with a special spotlight category: Made in America. This bid for the award is deeply meaningful to us, as Ecolution Design builds American-made pods using recycled or biodegradable materials.
For our clients, this commitment to domestic production translates into an American-made supply. Beyond supply chain reliability, sourcing local means we directly contribute to the economic growth of the communities we live in. It also reduces our impact on the environment and our emissions footprint.
Where Sustainability Meets Superior Acoustics
Longevity, not materials alone, decides whether sustainable acoustic pods deserve the name. Quality comes first. A pod that people dislike using leaves the floor early, and early replacement is the least sustainable outcome in design. A recycled-content product built as a sealed unit still ends in landfill. The real test, then, is what happens to the structure in ten years.
Ecolution Design builds for that ten-year test, with pods made from up to 91% recycled materials. The pods are also 99% recyclable at end of life. Because every unit follows design for disassembly, components separate and recover individually, a practice known as urban mining. Truly circular pods are demountable: a demountable pod comes apart and rebuilds when the floor plan changes, instead of a haul-away or the landfill.
We as Ecolution Design
We design for those that value superior, highly unique, and functional products that contribute positively to society. The office pods we have put forward for this honor are engineered to transform distracting open-plan offices into hubs of focused work and collaboration, without compromising the planet.
Nominated for Interior Design’s Best of Year: Built in Grand Rapids, MI
Ecolution Design is officially in the running for the Interior Design Best of Year awards in the Made in America category. Interior Design magazine’s Best of Year awards rank among the most respected honors in commercial design. The Made in America category recognizes products designed and built domestically. For a team that builds every unit in Michigan, no category could fit better.
Ecolution Design designs and builds its eco pods in Grand Rapids, MI, with locally sourced materials and no overseas production. That decision is sustainability logic: a shorter supply chain, lower shipping emissions, and faster lead times. A pod made from recycled materials but shipped across an ocean still carries that voyage as embodied carbon in its logistics chain.
Domestic manufacturing was a deliberate design decision. The Best of Year nomination recognizes the people who carry that decision out: the team that builds every Ecolution Design pod in Michigan. A pod built from up to 91% recycled materials and 99% recyclable at end of life makes its case on the numbers.
